The Hyderabad state was still under the rule of the Nizam, Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII . After the military offensive of the Indian army, code named Operation Polo , the state was freed from the monarchy on the 18th of September 1948. And thus was formed the Indian state of Hyderabad. The first chief minister of Hyderabad was Mr. Mullath Kadingi Vellodi Menon, from 1950 to 1952. The first (and last) elected chief minister of the Hyderabad state was Mr. Pullamraju 'Burgula' Ramakrishna,
